Padam Talao

Overview

Padam Talao, located deep inside Ranthambore National Park, is one of the largest and most significant lakes in the area. The lake holds historical importance, as it is believed to be the site where Princess Padmavati used to bathe and, tragically, the place where she committed sati. Standing close to the lake is the Jogi Mahal, a beautifully ornate structure that adds to the area’s charm.

Surrounded by dense forests, Padam Talao attracts a wide variety of wildlife, especially during the scorching summer heat, as animals come to drink water from the lake. In the early morning, visitors may spot the rare Chinkara Deer, known for its grace and speed. The lake is a popular spot for wildlife photography, offering excellent opportunities to capture animals in their natural habitat.

During the summer months, when the water level begins to recede, you can also spot crocodiles basking in the sun, along with other animals. While the lake is not accessible to visitors up close, it can be enjoyed from a jeep safari or from Ranthambore Fort, where you can catch a glimpse of the stunning surroundings and wildlife.

Padam Talao is a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and history enthusiasts, offering a tranquil yet vibrant experience in the heart of Ranthambore National Park.
